For model-year 2009, the U.S.-spec A3 with the 200-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter TFSI four-cylinder engine and S tronic dual-clutch gearbox can be ordered in either front- or all-wheel drive. Previously, the Quattro driveline came only on the high-end V6 model.

Also new for '09 is optional magnetic ride control. New wheel choices also will be available.

In Europe, both the A3 and S3 get modest exterior revisions, including updated front- and rear-end styling, as well as interior upgrades. The 265-hp S3 will be offered for the first time in a Sportback variant.

Audi will roll out the '09 A3 in the U.S. later this year.
